At Tula Organic we value the well-being of both our clients and our planet. Our mission is to provide a relaxing environment for beauty services that are luxurious yet sustainable. We believe that true beauty is best attained through green business practices, pure organic ingredients, and a loving relationship with our local community.

PARTNERSHIPS

We care about the planet and love to partner with other organizations that do too! We currently partner with:

• East End Food Co-op » We are a Co-op Community Partner. This program offers Co-op members exclusive discounts when they support participating local businesses.

• Dragon Master Foundation » We participate in the "Recycle for Research" program by sending in product containers that could not otherwise be recycled (like empty color tubes). The foundation is able to sell these products to a recycling center, and apply the profits to research to find and accelerate cures for cancer.

PRODUCTS & INGREDIENTS

We use (and love) the following product lines:

• Aveda » Aveda's vegan friendly and cruelty free hair care and skin care products contain a high percentage of sustainably sourced organic ingredients. All products are free of parabens, EDTA, PPD, GMOs, SLS, VOCs, and petrochemicals. Aveda's hair color is composed of 96% natural and organic ingredients.

• Carina » Carina produces vegan friendly, cruelty free, 100% natural hair and skin care products at an amazing price point! Their products are full of medicinal organics and completely free of chemicals, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. Throughout the year their herbal ingredients are sustainably harvested from the Pacific Northwest's forests and farms.

• Zoya Nail Polish » Zoya was the first in the industry to remove toxic ingredients such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate from its formulations. Which is why their polishes are referred to as "five free."

• Sukar » Sugaring is an all natural method of hair removal which utilizes a pliable paste made from sugar, lemon juice and water. Sukar brand paste is a 100% natural, food-grade product.

SUSTAINABILITY

• Recycling: We recycle all of our paper, metal, glass, and plastic through the city of Pittsburgh waste management system; product containers that could not otherwise be recycled (like our empty color tubes) are recycled through the Dragon Master Foundation. Aveda packages their products in up to 100% post consumer recycled plastic. And we personally utilize recycled materials in the plastic for our business sign, and in the kraft paper for our business cards.

• Upcycling: We made use of upcycled materials during construction of our space to add interesting details to our interior including: mirrors framed in local reclaimed barn-wood, a desk made from reclaimed doors, antique medical carts repurposed as stations, a color mixing table made from an old chemistry lab counter, and a decorative old leaded glass window.

• Other Measures: We love to support companies that use renewable energy, with both Aveda and FatCow (our web host) using 100% wind power. We do not believe in single-use plastics and serve filtered water in reusable glasses instead of plastic cups. We also do not print plastic gift-cards, instead we email Ecards. We use Energy Star appliances. And we clean with green cleaning products, including a handmade solution of water and white vinegar.
